The Moravian Star was created for Chas Clarkson, Australia’s premier Christmas decoration and illumination company, for the City of Sydney during the Christmas celebration period. The design housed various lighting mediums and was installed at a number of locations around Sydney.
Each part of the Moravian Star was rotomoulded from opalescent Polyethylene. Following moulding, coloured and mirrored vinyl was applied to each face of the star allowing the design to still have a vibrant presence when not illuminated.
Following the vinyl application, LED circuit assemblies were fitted before the design was silicone sealed and installed on the Martin Place and Taylor Square Christmas Tree's as well as various lampposts around Sydney.
Sydney's all-new interactive Christmas tree, located in Martin Place, was lit for the first time on November 28th, 2013, by Santa and the Lord Mayor. The lighting ceremony marked the start of the festive season.
